Our Vision

This paper was adopted at the September 2008 Church Members’ Meeting.

MBC -Becoming a community for the community

Values: Christ-centred, Spirit-filled, Bible-based

What kind of community does God want us to become?<br/> - a worshipping community, which honours God in all we do
- a praying community – seeking to know God’s heart, interceding for one another and the world.
- a missional community where mission is the agenda, not just an item on the agenda
- an inclusive community – which welcomes all
- a pastoral community – which helps hurting people to wholeness
- a disciple-making community – which equips people to serve and follow Jesus in the whole of life
- a prophetic community – which hears from God and speaks out God’s word
- a sacrificial community – which shares generously with others

Which community does God want us to be for?
- a local geographically based community
- a relational community
- the global community

How will we demonstrate that we are for the community?
• in evangelism - by reaching out in evangelism locally, and regionally along with others, equipping each person to be able to give a reason for the hope that is in them, wherever they spend their time.
• in social action – by initiating community based social action projects; partnering with other churches or community groups; and releasing church members to engage in social concern through existing groups which may not necessarily have a specifically Christian basis.
• in whole life discipleship - by helping Christians to live transformational lives as agents for change reflecting gospel values in all aspects of life.
• in world mission - by concern in prayer, giving and releasing personnel for the mission of the gospel within the UK and around the world.
• in social justice – by concern to see kingdom values influencing society.
• in fellowship - by actively seeking fellowship with others, locally, regionally and nationally as part of the wider body of Christ.

Who Are We?

The People who make up Milton Baptist Church are all ages and come from all sorts of different backgrounds. What we have in common is that we want to serve the community, like Jesus Christ would if He were here. Our doors are open to everyone and we aim to share the message that Jesus Christ is the only relevant answer to the questions and problems of our modern age.

What Do We Believe In?

What We Do

It is often said that Milton Baptist Church is 'more than just a building.' The most important thing we can say about ourselves is that we aim to be available for the people of Milton and the surrounding area. Our doors are open to everyone, but especially to those who are unwell, unhappy or overwhelmed by the troubles and trials of life. We use various methods, including a professional-quality publication delivered all round the area three times a year, to reach out to our local community

Milton Baptist Church offers a wide range of activities to meet the needs of all ages and types of people. At the younger end of the spectrum there is Junior Church (including a crèche), a Toddlers Group, a Pre-School (operated as a separate charity), Boys’ and Girls’ Brigades, a number of fellowship and teaching groups for young people and a Junior Sports Club.

There are a number of meetings for fellowship, prayer and study, a monthly all-church prayer meeting, a mid-week morning prayer and Bible study and a mid-week lunch time communion service.

We operate house groups and in addition to the senior Alpha courses we also run junior Alpha

Once a week we invite neighbours to a morning ‘Coffee Stop’ on the church premises and about once a month we have neighbourhood lunches. Annual church weekends provide a good number of church members and friends with the opportunity for intensive teaching and fellowship.

Milton Baptist Church is a member of the Baptist Union of Great Britain, the West of England Baptist Association, Evangelical Alliance and Churches Together in Weston and District. We cooperate with other churches in the town in events such as Bible Weeks.
